What is culture? What are the rules for learning culture?

[What is Culture?]

To the average person, when the word "culture" is mentioned, art, literature, and music come to mind.

But Millicentrogers.com defines culture as a group's
  • arts,
  • beliefs,
  • customs,
  • inventions,
  • language,
  • technology,
  • and traditions.
Culture is all of these things, and more.

[Culture Today]
To me, modern culture is no longer merely "American culture", "African culture" etc. With so many communities around the world converging and rediversifying, every country, city, and group now has a myriad of cultures in themself. Instead of culture by nationality, culture is now applicable to much more. Examples of this include hierarchy/class, and schools. Still deeper are social groups, however small (or large) they be, such as a notorious gang (the mafia) or a school clique (jocks, nerds, band geeks, orch dorks)*.
Hawaii is a good example of rediversified culture culture, a mix of various Asian, Polynesian, European, and other various cultures in what Rap Rapleinger aptly refers to as a "cultural salad".

[Learning Culture]
The only rule for learning culture is that it can't be learned, but merely experienced. It isn't something that can be reviewed or memorized as one would in school.
It is difficult to experience a culture without becoming a part of the culture itself, or rather the culture becoming a part of you. Culture can be described, it can be documented, but as with many in-house jokes "you just had to be there" - or that culture will remain unknown. Like the universe with all of its unexplored worlds, you'll never know for sure until you get there.

[Other Cultures]
I find it crucial to note the most recent branches of culture. Once again, culture has smaller and finer divisions the deeper one delves. Fans of a group (band) or book (Twilight saga, Harry Potter series) are also cultures.
The internet is one such culture, but a special one. The only thing that unites those of the internet is a lack of walls and physical identity. From there, the internet diversifies into blogs (such as blogspot/the wiki!), forums, and sites of all kinds.

[My Culture]
As an example, my culture would be that of the internet, Hawaii - both American and Japanese, Iolani School, my friends, those I share common interests with...

Culture is an ever-expanding field: easy to describe and yet difficult to know.
